What height bench does the Flexi Draughtsman Chair suit?

The Flexi Draughtsman Chair adjusts from 570mm to 800mm on a full height 14 inch gas lift, so it suits worktop, counter and bench height as well as a standard desk. Set the seat against your work surface first, then adjust the footring. An optional seat slide adds approximately 30mm to the seat height.

Does the Flexi Draughtsman Chair have a footring?

Yes. An adjustable footring is fitted as standard. On a chair that raises to 800mm the footring carries the weight of the legs once the seat sits above normal desk height, which is what keeps pressure off the back of the knees through a full working day.

How much weight does the Flexi Draughtsman Chair support?

The weight tolerance is 20 stone. The chair is also rated for 8 hours of use a day, on a full height 14 inch gas lift. The seat is upholstered in Camira Xtreme contract fabric and the base is supplied with glides as standard, with castor options available.

Flexi Draughtsman Chair Specification

A draughtsman chair, also called a drafting chair, is a counter-height seat with an adjustable footring, built for worktops, high desks and laboratory benches rather than for a standard desk. The Flexi Draughtsman Chair is height adjustable from 600-850mm on a full height 14 inch gas lift, and carries a weight tolerance of 20 stone. It is rated for 8 hours of use a day. The adjustable footring is fitted as standard, so feet stay supported when the seat is raised above desk height. The seat is upholstered in Camira Xtreme contract fabric, the Flexi back is available in Black or Grey, and the arms adjust as standard.

The Flexi back is contoured to the lumbar curve, so the backrest supports the lower spine at the height a draughtsman chair puts the user. Back height is adjustable, and the back panel measures 600mm high by 520mm wide. The moulded shell wipes clean, which is why this chair specifies into laboratories and factories as readily as into an office. It is supplied in a choice of Black or Grey plastic.

The seat height ranges from 570mm to 800mm, giving a wide range of seating positions depending on your worktop or counter height. That range covers counter height and bench height work as well as a standard desk, which is what separates a height adjustable draughtsman chair from an ordinary task chair.

Upholstery Options: Camira Xtreme Fabric Range

The seat is upholstered in the Camira Xtreme contract fabric range, in a choice of 41 colourways, and every one of them is £198.00. Camira publishes the full range, including Adobo (YS165), Belize (YS105), Ocean (YS100) and Sandstorm (YS071):

Camira Xtreme Fabrics

3 Lever PCB Mechanism: Height, Back Angle and Seat Tilt

A 3 lever PCB mechanism controls seat height, back angle and seat tilt, and each of the three locks in any position independently of the other two. The back height is also adjustable.

Optional Seat Slide (Adds Approximately 30mm to Seat Height)

A seat slide mechanism allows the user to slide the seat forwards or backwards to set the seating position. Adding a seat slide increases the seat height by approximately 30mm. See the Chair Accessories category to add a seat slide.

Castors and Glides: Supplied With Glides as Standard

The chair is supplied with glides as standard, which keep it stable on laboratory and workshop floors where a rolling chair is a safety risk. Castor options are available where movement is needed — see the definitions below, or the Chair Accessories category to add extra castors.

Which Castor or Glide Should You Choose?

Glides
flat feet fitted to the base of the chair rather than the castors you would normally see on an office chair. They are supplied as standard on this chair, and are used where movement is not generally required and for safer operating on draughtsman chairs, including on laboratory and workshop floors.
Standard Castors
the same castors you would see on most office chairs.
Soft Castors
castors with a hard rubber edge on the wheels, which improves grip and helps them roll rather than slide on hard floors such as tiles or laminate.
Brake Loaded Castors
these allow the chair to be moved freely, as with standard castors, when no one is sitting on it. When there is weight on the chair, a brake is applied to the castor wheels and prevents the chair from moving. That prevents the chair sliding forwards or backwards if the user leans too far one way or the other, while still allowing it to be moved easily when no one is seated.
Soft Brake Loaded Castors
a combination of brake loaded and soft castors.
